Last lesson of a 3 yrs tuition

Yesterday night I just bid goodbye to my tutee of 3 yrs. It's a happy event because it means that he completed his studies with a good finishing time but i will really miss those days going through sums and questions.

It's his 'o' levels today and I am confident that he will do great. :) compared to 3 yrs ago, he was so confused with math concepts then, struggling with almost all questions in a paper. Just like how I was like during lower sec. Haha! But now he's so pro-active, seeking out questions and topics he is unclear of, and not hesitating to clarify with me. It's an attitude I hope will continue on in his life. :) May he get into his dream course and be an outstanding tennis player! :)

The rose - Westlife

When things get you down, just remember to be as strong as the rose.

Some say love it is a river
That drowns the tender reed.
Some say love it is a razor
That leaves your soul to bleed.

Some say love it is a hunger
An endless, aching need
I say love it is a flower,
And you it's only seed.

It's the heart afraid of breaking
That never learns to dance
It's the dream afraid of waking
That never takes the chance

It's the one who won't be taken,
Who cannot seem to give
And the soul afraid of dying
That never learns to live.

When the night has been too lonely
And the road has been too long.
And you think that love is only
For the lucky and the strong.

Just remember in the winter
Far beneath the bitter snow
Lies the seed that with the sun's love,
In the spring, becomes the rose.

Learning the hard way

An unexpected phone call landed me in a nervous state during work, and the meaning of on-the-job-learning hits hard, like a pile of bricks. It sent me into a state of unrest and there were instances whereby I felt stupider by the minute with the judging looks I got. I was initially glad that my nature of work is mainly independent, allowing me to interact with colleagues freely. But what I forgot is how people will still form impressions of you. Although the incident passed, I do hope it was treated as my best attempt to solve the problem. I'm glad I was taught the right way subsequently, but as much as I wish I wouldn't be, I will definitely be more sensitive, more paranoid when conversing, knowing that I once tripped and fell. If only mistakes were forgiven.

Someone loves you...

Joined the Laurier contest with Lala today! We got a fuji Polaroid camera as a gift and had to complete a series of fun tasks like the amazing race!! I guess this will be the closest I can get to being an amazing race participant haha! It was really exciting to take photos with dimpled guys, red ferrari, the b&j cow, and many other characters :D

I'm on a snapping spree now though the films are not cheap!!!

Strange lingo and fetish for abbrev.

Three days into my first full-time job and I already feel like I'm a sponge in the ocean. There is so much aviation lingo, with 8 hours courses on our systems and so on. We love abbreviation so much so that literally everything has an abbreviation. It's really a new world to me, and I felt like the guy from avatar who had just came into pandora. Haha!

I love what I am doing though, even if it might be tedious and emotionally draining. I love the investigation part, the crafting of replies part, the literal satisfaction you get when you know how many cases you closed. Oh I love the nitty gritty parts too :D But what I love most is the wide range of areas it allows me to snoop into, be it food, products or even loyalty programmes. I believe by the end of say, 3 years before I rotate out, I'll be an expert in major customer contact points. And yes, I get super excited when I look at flight routes and stuff. :D

There is just so much to learn, so much to absorb, and that's what makes us want to learn more everyday. :) luckily we have induction courses, departmental courses, air law and economics e-learning courses and many more!
