never failed = never lived

a very inspiring video!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_tjYoKCBYag&feature=player_embedded

having seen that, i still don't really wanna fail my driving. =( d-day will be here in 5 days' time!

eat more beef

been feeling slightly dizzy for the whole of today, and extremely sleepy too. i dozed off a few times during tuition (yes it's happening again) even. so i figured it's due to the lack of iron in my body, which is causing the blood not to circulate to my brain and thus the horrendous mistakes i made during driving lesson today. =/

and so, i went online to find out about food that are high in iron, which mainly boils down to beef, broccoli, cereals and liver/heart of various animals. I'll scrap the last one as I'm not too fond of them.

So, if i ever go on a meal with you all, please remind me to eat more of those food! :D

now onto something funny, lala said this on msn just now:

Sheila Jayme: i'm going off
Sheila Jayme: bye bye
Sheila Jayme: Take care too hor
Sheila Jayme: eat more beef

XD that's the funniest thing i've heard today!

Doube U

Why must 'W' be pronounced as double-U and not double-vee?

randomness sets in...

no regrets

yay. hols!

i'll never regret phone calls to bestie. :) in fact, i think i should really call her more often.

and in retrospect, missing an afternoon of studying with some quality family time is well worth it.

can't wait for gym with 1/2 of the quartet folks and dinner with miss mieh tomorrow! they are all simple pleasures of life, but they are sure meaningful!

but before all those... I should get some work done. =P

Treasures in you

My 800th post.

An ode to my love ones! :)

There are treasures in life,
but owners are few
Of money and power
to buy things brand new.
Yet you can be wealthy
and feel regal too,
If you will just look
for the treasures in you.
These treasures in life
are not hard to find
When you look in your heart,
your soul, and your mind.
For when you are willing
to share what's within,
Your fervent search
for riches willend.
The joy and the laughter,
the smile that you bring;
The heart unafraid
to love and to sing;
The hand always willing
to help those in need;
Ones quick to reach out,
to labor and feed.
So thank you for sharing
these great gifts inside;
The caring, the cheering,
the hug when one cried.
Thanks for the energy,
encouragement too,
And thank you for sharing
the treasures in you.

as we walk, as we walk, as we walk all night.
With a heel and a toe and some songs all around,
With some shirts and some berms and a new friend found!

Lucky

Lucky - Jason Mraz Feat. Colbie Caillat

Do you hear me,I'm talking to you

Across the water across the deep blue ocean

Under the open sky, oh my, baby I'm trying

Boy I hear you in my dreams

I feel your whisper across the sea

I keep you with me in my heart

You make it easier when life gets hard

I'm lucky I'm in love with my best friend

Lucky to have been where I have been

Lucky to be coming home again

Ooohh ooooh oooh oooh ooh ooh ooh ooh

They don't know how long it takes

Waiting for a love like this

Every time we say goodbye

I wish we had one more kiss

I'll wait for you I promise you, I will

I'm lucky I'm in love with my best friend

Lucky to have been where I have been

Lucky to be coming home again

Lucky we're in love every way

Lucky to have stayed where we have stayed

Lucky to be coming home someday

And so I'm sailing through the sea

To an island where we'll meet

You'll hear the music fill the air

I'll put a flower in your hair

Though the breezes through trees

Move so pretty you're all I see

As the world keeps spinning round

You hold me right here right now

I'm lucky I'm in love with my best friend

Lucky to have been where I have been

Lucky to be coming home again

I'm lucky we're in love every way

Lucky to have stayed where we have stayed

Lucky to be coming home someday

older and wiser

there are a few reasons why we would become wiser as we grow older.

mainly, it's because as you gather more life experiences through events, incidents and communication with others, you gain knowledge about both yourself and others. you realise how differently others think of a particular situation and how many viewpoints are valid, depending on which way you see it.

of course, sometimes knowing more will result in you being more biased (even though you are wiser), and might make judgements based on what you think is the case, which at times might not be true. then again, i'm glad to have my acquired wisdom many a times when needed.

looks like a bunch of uncomprehendable reflection sentences again eh? haha

well, you can think about what i wrote, and you may agree or disagree, but it's something i learnt. some insights that will only come to you when events are played out in a certain way. and it helps to talk it out with someone too. :)

happy weekend folks!

KOTA KINABALU HERE I COME!!!!

Kota Kinabalu, here I comeeee!!!

Yes! Shuhui and i got selected for the all-expenses paid 3D2N trip to kota kinabalu! :D :D :D

Thank you jetstar! and Sabah tourism board!

Can't believe i'm flying again after my marathon trips just a few months ago (i miss taiwan! and phuket. and perth. even cameron highlands haha!). still trying to earn more money to cover my (past) expenditures, but i'm really happy :D at least i don't need to spend so much this time round (i hope). yes, i live to travel. haha! do check my blog often when i'm back, cos i'll be posting an entry on our trip, together with plenty of pictures! heh.

maybe i can drag shuhui to climb that mountain....

You know what I will do if I get the grand prize? Sponsor everyone who's going for my mount kinabalu trip next year! heh heh heh. shuhui, tempted yet?

P.S: it just occurred to me (being an advertising-major student) that this is really a good way of connecting to the audience using such contests like what jetstar is doing. Participants will definitely build a sense of loyalty to your company (on top of plenty of memories) and the cost of doing all these is just a fraction of what you will spend on mass media ads. I guess both ways will work, depending on what is the effect you are aiming for. :) hmm... suddenly thought of our Cathay Pacific brand audit project. I should try and get some ideas from this trip. hahaa!

run your own race

it was a great run ard ntu with reina today! =) we ran for an hour, ate a yummy steamboat dinner at canteen B, and basically chatted the evening and night away haha! time just passes when you are happy =P

thanks to ruyan who lent us her room to put our stuff too!

i have this urge to stay in hall now...

This funny conv happened today:

Reina: Wahh, I'm damn unfit.

Ruyan (stunned look): Huh? You have bad armpits???

(everyone laughed)

Reina: Yeah, my armpits are rather naughty

Perth highlights

Figured that I won't get around to setting up my all-for-travel blog with every single detail of my trips that soon, I shall post up some pics from Perth to tantalize you guys :D

Our budget trip to Perth on jetstar amounts to $165 per person (inclusive of all taxes and surcharges and two person sharing one checked-in luggage space). I think in the near future I'll take more flights than taxis in a year haha! When the prices drop to less than 50 bucks to fly to neighbouring countries muahaha!

Photobucket
all bright and cheery for our pre-grad trip hahaha!

Photobucket
Lasagne @ the airport in a restuarant named 'breakfast.lunch.dinner'

Photobucket
Rented a Nissan Tiida with an amazingly huge boot to stuff our luggages in!

Photobucket
Our trusty GPS system aka guardian angel for this trip

Photobucket
Beautiful bare trees

Photobucket
First stop: Swan ValleyThis pottery shop is located just beside the visitor's centre, and this lady here is really patient in explaining the process of crafting clay into a piece of art. :)

Photobucket
Swan Valley's visitor's centre. Very friendly people inside! We loved the in-depth explanation on how to navigate the area, plus personal recommendations on where to get the best eats.

Photobucket
Along the way you'll find horses, cows and kangaroos greeting you everywhere you go

Photobucket
Mondon Nougat Factory, located along Swan Valley road, with its cute lil red car :D

Photobucket
Margaret River Chocolate Factory!!!! Free chocolate tastings - unlimited.

Photobucket
What's Swan Valley without the endless wineries? You'll never get out sober once you step in here (unless you are the driver of the car haha!)

Photobucket
Cheap but good quality wines galore!

Next stop: Fremantle, a city near perth, just 20minutes drive away

Photobucket
Grocery shopping is always the best part of any trip - we made our own breakfast!

Photobucket
Famous Fremantle Markets - a huge area of shops selling anything from shirts to food to boomerangs to handicrafts.

Photobucket
Hungry for some fish & chips?

Photobucket
There you go! Crispy, pippin' hot and lips-smacking delicious. Make sure you eat them before the seagulls do.

Photobucket
Coupled with an amazing view of the harbour!

Photobucket
I can't help but post more of these beautiful pictures

Photobucket
Another of Perth's markets - we went crazy over their macadamia nuts

run, jing run

for the first time in my life, i'm gonna run from bukit gombak to bukit timah to holland village all in the span of maybe 2 hours + tomorrow morning. wee hours of the morning in fact. getting up at 5am is no easy feat for a sleepyhead like me =/ speaking of which, i've been (still) dozing off and sleeping soundly on trains and buses. and in tuition sessions too, when math bores me. ops. =P not that i want to, but i can't keep myself awake once i have the urge to sleep. sleep is my body's top most priority haha!

gambatte!! 2 months more to train for 42km.

and i'm 9 posts away from the 800th post of my very old blog! wow. combine that with all the diaries i wrote since primary school, i think i chronicle my life pretty well thus far. =D

Watched the Time Traveller's Wife with lala today at The Cathay, with a 6bucks movie ticket price! i'm lovin it! haha. poor lala shed a number of tears because the movie's really very touching. even i who don't ever cry (unless the movie really touched my heart) had my own tap leaking a few tears every now and then. It's that nice :)

It's true that one shouldn't know about the future, because it brings more burden. but humans are always seeking to know what will happen. Perhaps if your love one disappears every now and then, you'll cherish the times spent together more. :)

cases, sections, clauses, exceptions

okay, i'm getting a bit sick of reading about cases, sections, clauses, exceptions and most of all, definitions!!

i'm referring to media law btw.

once you get the hang of it, you'll realise that it's really a lot about using logical thinking, understanding the various clauses and definitions, commiting those rules to memory and basically the tone of the whole book is the same throughout. =/ very organised, i can even do a mindmap for you, complete with cases and all hahaha! i like the defenses part though, but that's pretty much it. haha. but i did gain a whole lot of knowledge about copyright, defamation etc, which i admit can be rather useful too.

i truly hope i can remember all the stuff i read over the past weeks during my mid-terms.

on a more exciting note, i stumbled upon jetstar's new contest!

http://www.jetstar.com/sg/en/sg-en/jetsaverlightchallenge.aspx

it's a jetstar light challenge, whereby they fly you and your friend to kota kinabalu (all expenses paid!) and you have to plan a day's activities revolving around RM60 and blog about it, and the most creative blog post gets $500 travel vouchers! I would gladly plan any travel itineraries without even getting paid, this is fun stuff to me! hahaa

then when i tried to find someone who blogs frequently to join me in the contest, i realised a lot of my friends don't blog often =P

still, that challenge had me squealing for a few minutes and after that it dawned on me that i might not get chosen ultimately 'cos they will only choose 10 teams.
well my friends, if you all are interested, feel free to click on that webby and have a look!

Singapore is globally competitive

Woot! Singapore ranks 3rd in global competitiveness by World Economic Forum's recent report.

http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/459bc644-9c56-11de-ab58-00144feabdc0.html

What can I say?

Singaporeans are 'kiasu' mah

But I'm proud of Singapore, really. :)

Keep up the good work everyone!

P.S: Is the flobber chatterbox down for good? Fret not! If you wanna comment, there's always the 'comments here!' tab at the end of every post :D which my dear lala has been using frequently! heh.

EZPZX

Found out about a new shipping company (EZPZ Express - a play on the name Easy Peasy) recently that helps you ship in stuff from USA to Singapore at a cheaper rate than vPost and ComGateway if you have bulky stuff, like furniture or equipment, because they charge by space and not weight.

The boss is a Singaporean, so be assured that your items will be in safe hands haha! Not very logical I know, but I trust local companies more than overseas ones I guess.

They are having a promo now, if you register yourself as a member (I did - for free!), you can get their 1 metre cube space at a buy 1 get 1 at 50% off! It's valid till 30 oct, so if you are itching to get that billard table or sofa from USA, sign up now!

Well, I've been eyeing a karaoke system - only USD$197!! http://www.thesongstation.com/

Anyone knows how much it is to buy a karaoke system in SG?

guilt

Do you feel that sometimes you really don't know why you do certain things? Like I know what's the right way to do it, but somehow it didn't cross my mind and I thought it didn't really matter. But on hindsight, I really should have admitted my mistake earlier.

Argh. It seemed so 'primary school'-ish that i'm embarrassed by myself totally.

If I were 6 and my mom knew about it, she would scold me for sure.

Now I really don't know how I can make it up.

strum strum (again)

Just bought the same guitar as lala few hours ago! woohoo!

=D

It's a version of maestro guitar, at a clearance sale price, thus it's within our budgets (sort of. it's $137 for mine in total) along with a nice tuner and bag. Plus, it's really easy to play judging that it's an accoustic guit, with a sunburst frame! we like :D

Hope i didn't make the wrong choice this time round. It really resembles my old guitar from the colours to the material, backing etc. Just that this is much smaller, which is better for me :)

I immediately went home and tried my hand at playing the notes of collin raye's love me as practiced long time ago, and found that i forgot most of the stuff again. haha

Due to the lack of camera (still waiting for IT fair!!), you guys shall see a photo of it in a few months' time haha.

Run

Credits to: http://enchantmentx.deviantart.com/art/run-9359099

I'm getting the hang of early morning runs, when dawn is still a few hours away.

And i have a great running buddy, vick!

love the random lawyer and marketing jokes we crack on bukit timah hill haha! and of course those chats are priceless too.

there's sth about that hill that tickled our funny bones. :)

One fine day, we'll make it to botanic gardens yeah!

About history...

Quoting an article in Straits Times:

"Every attempt to write history is flawed. Every history is mutable - till more facts are unearthed, till the next political movement comes about.

Once we recognise this, we can get on with the business of trying to understand history, knowing that the accounts we read are at best a sepia-toned faded photograph of the multi-hued, multi-sensorial panorama of the past."

What an apt description of the way to look at history - and i couldn't agree more. :)

I especially like the way it's described as a photograph.

----------

badminton with bestie was a hilarious affair, as always, with her vivid accounts of how her sister sprained her backside, resulting in her whacking her sis's butt in the middle of the badminton court. HAHAHA!

though my right arm hurt like mad after playing, i'm glad i took the time off to relax and have fun :)

but now, i wish i had more time, when i see deadlines looming ahead. would love to do all the things that i have to do, i have no qualms about it, but time is just not really enough. haha! usual problem, and the usual way of solving it will be to manage it better!

a good day

today is a good day!

I meant 5 sep 2009 since I'm posting this after midnight.

It all started off when I suddenly felt really happy for no reason or whatsoever, but just happy to be alive at this time. haha

Then I started spreading my happiness to people ard me, like siew! happiness can be spread through smses you know.

subsequently, good things started to happen as i met wanwei for a karaoke session at clementi's kbox (making full use of our 10nett voucher).

- bumped into lala coincidentally outside partyworld as I wanted to check their prices. it was really random, because if she had not came out of the toilet at that moment, and if i had not came up the escalator at the exact same time, we wouldn't have met. :)

- ww and i found out by accident too that Sakae at cityvibe is having a $1 sushi promo and we immed zoomed in to stuff ourselves silly XD

- during the sushi dinner, we had plenty of delicious food, all either in huge portions or freshly cooked/fried. for instance, their salmon karaage is exceptionally yummy and piping hot today too! :D

- then when we popped into kbox finally at 7pm sharp, they gave us a rather huge room meant for at least 4 people

- and the BEST thing is, although our package is supposed to last for only 3 hours, we get to sing till 10.40pm and it was so shocking cos they are usually super strict about these stuff!

so essentially we got quite a number of good deals today heh! imagine, 10 bucks for ktv on a sat night?? =P i love kbox. please have more of these kind of promos so i'll come at least once a week. haha!

and that kind of concludes my very happy saturday :) i guess when you are joyful everything seems like a bestowed gift. haha. we should all be happier everyday.

Catching up...

This week has been a catching up week. First I met mr ang, my ex-boss, and mel, my ex-colleague for shokudo dinner on tuesday and had a great time talking about married vs unmarried lives. haha!

Then today I met 3 of my cuzzies for an aston's dinner at the cathay, topped up with a yummy dessert at rocher beancurd!! =D kbox will be our next gathering place! i'm still yearning to sing heh. Glad to see us all meeting up even though we have grown up, I guess the duty is on us now to keep in touch lest we all forget about each other's existence haha! blood runs thicker than water yeah =D

In a few days' time...
