Stuttgart-ers gathering
Last saturday was a day whereby me and my fellow Germany summer exchange programme friends reminiscence the very day one year ago, when we all stepped foot in Heidelburg and explored the quaint little town :)
So we met at the place we said goodbye to Singapore, Changi airport!

mega huge angsana seed spotted in the arrival hall
Yikes, just realised the group shot is with another friend. I shall continue updating this when I get the picture then. =P
And let me sidetrack a bit, I finally completed my 26 pages worth of internship report!!!! I feel a great sense of satisfaction :) Now I can sleep in peace. Jia you everyone! It's not impossible, just have to get into the "mood for reflection". hahaha
P.S: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, REG! :D flying wishes from Sg to shanghai!

Namecards
"May I have your namecard please?"
"I'm sorry, I don't have one."
I told myself, it's the quality of the work that matters, and not whether I have the benefits of having my own namecards, considering I have namecards when I intern-ed in a media agency previously and didn't even have a chance to use them and I eventually threw all of them away.
You win some, you lose some.
I would rather prefer meeting people without having namecards rather than not meeting any at all, in all honesty.
It would be an amazing feat if people can remember me based on their interaction with me without the aid of a namecard. That would be quite interesting...
Still... it would be so much better if I were to have them. :) One can always dream what. :D

dawn on me
I think I'm someone who likes to work in a quiet and undisturbed environment. Once my train of thought gets disrupted, I'll become distracted and unable to focus on tasks on hand. Perhaps this is the result of growing up as an only child, I value having my own thinking space and time, and will be more than happy to absorb myself in an interested read in my own world.
Being in a vibrant office (or rather a vibrant corner of the office) with so many friends around me does make me lose focus sometimes. It's just like all of a sudden I have four other siblings (who sit just beside me) to be with, to play with, to talk to. Which is a good thing I would admit, as we help each other, enlightening each other on the seemingly unsolvable problems, offering solutions and opinions, lending a listening ear for minor matters that you just want to complain and get it out of your chest.
But that has also made me less efficient in churning out results. I hate to see the disappointment on my superiors' faces. I don't wish them to regret what is their impression of me initially. But I can't get myself out of the cycle. It's really hard to balance both peers and superiors' expectations. Where is the mid point? When do I need to be professional and when to relax and morph into "school" mode? Time after time I find myself concentrating the best when I come in to work early, rushing out things that I could only do when I have some "self" time.
I don't want to come across as being too stiff and serious when not replying to people's comments, so I try to adapt but yet retain my focus when necessary. And apologising when I cannot focus my attention on what they are saying.
Still learning, still understanding while being true to myself. :) I hope my fellow colleagues understand too.
I wish one day I could re-do what I did badly, because I really wanted to do it well. But I am always swayed by other things, and I blame myself for not prioritizing correctly. Regrets, regrets.
You know, reading my own words from all my logbooks has given me more understanding about myself. Did I really write those? It seems rather unbelivable that I can actually put my thoughts into the exact words I wish to use. And I realised too, once I start writing, I will not stop. It's a great feeling to be able to pen down my own experiences, which I guess is what the Internship report should be about.
One day I'll start writing fiction stories again :D

PASSED
I passed!
It was quite unnerving to click the 'end test' button when I completed all the questions halfway into the test time. But I wasn't in the mood to check much and just wanted to get it over and done with. =P Luckily I passed! By just a margin I think, since there are a few questions which I wasn't sure of.
So now I'm focusing on my practical, which is not easy lol.
Thanks for all the well wishes! :D they helped!
[ubi caritas et amor, Deus ibi est]
PI report, oh PI report, when will I be done with you?

happy 22nd, waisan!
Happy 22nd waisan!!! (Though I'm one day late. :))
looking forward to our celebration dinner on monday!
Just watched Xmen with vick today and had a cheap but not-too-bad sushi dinner! =D Fridays are always jolly days. And it was fun catching up with this 1-month-teacher. I didn't know school can have so much things that will happen! haha good old school. The foursome/quartet will reunite more often! :)
my heart's thumping cos my final theory test is tomorrow and i'm not very confident. *shivers*
shall go do more practice questions...

vroom
thinking about my first ever driving lesson last sunday always gives me a sense of excitement. =)
Didn't expect I would be driving on the roads so early on, but I managed to do it without major accidents haha! Credits goes to my driving instructor who patiently mumbled all the steps I should do, even down to the nitty gritty details. I went through tons of traffic lights junctions (switching gears is a chore), circled the choa chu kang and bukit gombak towns, and had a helluva good time! :D
Paid $28 per hour for 1.5 hours and i think it's not bad a deal honestly!
thanks kairu!

what's life without work?
I need a life-sized whiteboard.
So that I can note down every single thing I have to do, whether at work or personal, and not forget a single thing.
Because there's just too much to remember.
It was until yesterday when I came home, deadbeat and slept on the sofa for four hours without even bathing, that I realised I am really tired. Tired in the sense that my energy levels are really depleted for the day. I'm not hating my job, in fact, I quite like it. I don't feel resentful to have to come into office every working day.
I'm just tired.
Day after day of rushing out this and that, and eventually realising it's kind of neverending. :(
Kudos to all the mothers who work and take care of their children at the same time. It's tough man.
Do I really want to have this kind of life when I start work? It seems inevitable in Singapore's society. Everyone's doing it. So should I, right?
What will life be then?

trip and fall
my cycling plans got cancelled :(
all because i tripped and fell on the gravel road when i went down to take a bus. aaarrrgghh
wanted to continue with my plans but looking at the bloody knee i have... well, i guess not. =(
so i'm now stuck at home watching doraemon! haha
since i have the time, here are some pictures i took over the past two weeks :)

spinelli coffee :D it's mint choc. thanks for sharing with me though you didn't drink much =P

Christian Lacroix exhibition! it's free for students, so do have a look! it really brings you into another world of magic, theatre and fancy costumes. i went there for a department outing heh. my colleague's trying out some spastic look that really cracked all of us up hahaha!

and that's me

pretty!

everything's so flamboyant because it's made for theatre productions. =)

it's all about angles

think i'll melt if i wear this in singapore

reminds me of cnbc...

mirror mirror on the wall, tell me what are all the words for?

me and my trusty colleague, sze lin!

twirls

may i?

a failed shot of me jumping in mid-air

make love, not war

happy 22nd birthday ling-er!!! I picked this after travelling to funan twice in a week. haha! i love the leather-ish texture :D oh, it's a laptop case btw. $39 selling at assorted shops. don't get duped by this man who sells it for $45!

flea market mania! kairu's an stall owner that day =) on an impulse, i bought 4 dresses for 50bucks. =D

sunshine and i went to this bak kut teh stall in clarke quay and had a delicious meal! that's a chinese tea set, and the experienced girl went and did those steps to "wash" the cups and finally brew the tea. very interesting!

our feast - bak kut teh (it's good!), you tiao, oyster veges and two happy girls :D

guess what is this? it's a lighter! hahaha quite cool eh? though i don't smoke, it's still useful for birthday celebrations and stuff. lol. I'm always in need of lighters.

and i baked choc fudge cupcakes for mother's day! :D

celebrated with my dear mummy on monday, and finally got the chance to try zhou's kitchen's high-tea buffet. it's really worth the money (12,80++ unlimited dim sum, appetizers, dishes, soups, noodles, porridge (it's just like crystal jade's porridge!), desserts!) Just refuse the prawn crackers when you see it on your table. it costs an additional $3 -.-

mummy with a smile! she kept saying, "aiyoh order too much already. can't finish!" but i think it's the prawn crackers, because both of us finished the whole basket before we even get started on the dishes!

money money money

they are choc coins, bulk-ordered from candy empire for a marketing stint and are honestly not cheap. =/ but we had fun wrapping them :D and eating a bit of them of course! hahaha
and finally on thursday evening...

bon voyage my dear friends (those who are carrying bags)!!!! you will definitely have as much fun as i did last year, if not more! :D i miss those times really. just go all out and enjoy yourselves!! i'm waiting for your pictures on facebook!

run
yes! i finally ran this morning, though i had a minor accident whereby a bee literally flew into my nose when I was running. Don't ask me why, it's such a horrible way to kill a bee too. urgh. long story short, I felt this sourish sensation and tried all means to get that thing out, and finally i sneezed it out, dead. =/ what a horrific experience.
i think i need to pull myself up this week. i've been living in a everything-seems-so-bleak phase. perhaps because in work i kept bumping into obstacles after obstacles. Nothing that I do seems to be working, my ideas are crap, and when I desparately need replies, people just won't reply me. wonderful.
hope this weekend will be a therapeutic one so i can recharge for next week. =) I have cycling @ east coast tmr and driving lesson on sunday! which reminds me... my final theory is coming up!
and I just sent my fellow classmates (3 to be exact) off to germany yesterday! =( i think i have an attachment towards european countries. maybe it's the buildings... maybe it's the peace and quiet of it all... maybe it's the 80cents ice creams! hahaha
have fun, you people! say hi to deutschland for me! maybe i should learn german level 1 next semester...

resolute
Resolute:
–adjective
1. firmly resolved or determined; set in purpose or opinion.
2. characterized by firmness and determination, as the temper, spirit, actions, etc.
I will run tomorrow morning. I will I will. The feeling of being stuck in office whole day long not moving much really sucks. I need an exercise buddy(ies) too! =P Like the last time I had miss stm as my amore gym buddy, but this time i lack the finances to get a gym membership (have to save up for trips!) so I'm thinking of badminton, cycling, running, tennis (siew lend me ur racket!), swimming, blading (once i master it), ice-skating (ditto the previous comment), etc! Whoever wants to get their bums out and about, just holler to me yeah! :D
Going to cycle with bestie this weekend, so that's one down. maybe I will get my cousin to personal train me hahaha!
Had a nice warm dinner with lala just now, after printing some cards near my office =) I really like the way we share things, even the deepest concerns that we usually don't voice out. I'm glad we managed to share so much, because suddenly there's more hope in solving things, just because you know someone is supporting you. =) sometimes I find our lives quite similar (we are both an only child!), maybe that's why we can understand each other better somehow. but all worries should not deter us from pursuing a future we work hard to achieve, with all the right reasons. we'll pray for each other this sunday!
Anyway I just got this disgusting sms from goodness-knows-who, and it spooked the hell outta me. -.- I wonder was it my ex-tutee the one who asked her friend to play the prank on me. Maybe I should reply to poke fun of the person a bit... Will post the sms up one day when I feel like it. :D

come to me in dreams
if i don't see you in real life, i will see you in my dreams.
don't know whether it's a good thing or not.
---
Perplexing dreams aside, I have two $100 vouchers for Wacom Intuos3 & bluetooth tablet. Intuo3 (A5 working size) will be $468 after discount, and the bluetooth one (also A5 working size) will be $299 after the discount.
Any interested takers? I can pass you the vouchers :) Expires on 29 May! It's kind of an exclusive thing from a particular dealer.

Itch
Something stumps me.
I have tons of mosquito(es) bites on my feet, and they aren't normal! Initially I thought they are just plain bites and after awhile it'll just swell and go away, but no! these bites actually stayed for days (a week now) and grew itchier, redder, and even had tiny crusts on them! =( =( =( okay i'm freaking out, but they are making my feet look so ugly and bloat-ish. I do hope they don't leave scars, because I don't see any of them fading away anytime soon.
AND they itch like mad!!!
the most horrific thing is that new bites will just pop up out of nowhere, and the same process repeats! it's downright worrying.
what should i do? =/
and guess what?
I took the nightrider home just now, fell into a deep slumber and kept knocking my head against the window's handle, which resulted in a massive bump on the right of my forehead now. urgh. how incredibly silly i am.

treats
I've been treated to dinner by two friends for two days straight! =D thank you thank you! One was the flavourful and really delicious mee goreng and the other is a lerk thai set meal! wanwei, will you treat me to cafe iguana when we meet tomorrow? haha!!
You know, when you feel bored with life in general, you should just hold on and wait for awhile more, because things are kind of unpredictable and that makes life interesting! :) sometimes i thought my emotions are always in check, and ever that stable, but there are always people who can displace my composure without doing much.
Watched 17again with Desy-the-one-who-showed-me-that-LOL-youtube-video two nights ago. :) we went ga-ga over zac efron together haha! it was of a coincidence i knew about certain things, and i really hope things will be solved soon. hoped my words are of some comfort (though my solutions are quite lame =P heehee. but hey, you have to admit they might work), and desy, if you ever read this, know that if you ever need help, there's always me to turn to yeah :) you can tide this through with everyone who loves you supporting you! be strong, woman! so i was saying... the movie's really fantastic, it's clear, meaningful, and hilarious all in a shot. :) not to mention zac efron IS incredibly good-looking. and talented. (double pleasure) and acts really well.
anyway, i've been rather occupied recently with work stuff (need a lot of concentration and brain juices), mykindofcard stuff (orders are coming in! :)), birthday stuff (a few friends' birthdays' in may), host mom's gift stuff (scrapbook of uniquely singapore food - very drool-worthy) and basically everything in between too. :D
looking forward to the looooonnnggg weekend (monday's an off day for me!) spent baking choc cupcakes at home and planning my taiwan trip (still) XD i hope they turn out edible. haha! kudos to strawB for your colourful recipe =D
A long day tomorrow... hope my brain stays active and remembers stuff! so afraid i'll forget something with so many things going on.

a change a day keeps boredom away
What motivates me to blog? It takes time (honestly, a lot of time), effort, a bit of brain juice (to cook up taglines and descriptions) but whenever I surf old blog entries, I'm really glad I took time to note them all down, because I tend to forget those great moments (esp funny ones) and it's always fun to see what makes up of my life for the past few years, good or bad. :) and then i can officially say i've grown older and (hopefully) wiser! haha
end of my random disgressing. i have photos from the past two weeks to share with everyone, and my future self.

well, it's actually a rehearsal for Syfy (Sci-fi) channel's promo, with a really great interactive campaign to be launched. i find that the idea is absolutely brilliant :D

it's a bit hard to see, but one of the "characters" is teasing one of our VPs. it's like Gotcha playing live in office. HAHA

singapore sling does taste quite good, strong yet with a fruity flavour to display our tropical island feel. not bad at all.

Angels or demons
A song siew and i fell in love with (luckily it's not a guy.. just kidding!) during beerfest:
Dishwalla - Angels or Demons. I wanna form a band to play this song =P though i'm a bit disappointed with the ending tune, kinda not here not there. but still, it's a wonderful song :)
Angels or Devils - Dishwalla
this is the last time
that I'm ever gonna come here tonight
this is the last time - I will fall
into a place that fails us all - inside
I can see the pain in you
I can see the love in you
but fighting all the demons will take time
it will take time
the angels they burn inside for us
are we ever
are we ever gonna learn to fly
the devils they burn inside of us
are we ever gonna come back down come around
I'm always gonna worry about the things that could make us cold
this is the last time that I'm ever gonna give in tonight
are there angels or devils crawling here?
I just want to know what blurs and what is clear - to see
still I can see the pain in you
and I can see the love in you
and fighting all the demons will take time
it will take time
the angels they burn inside for us
are we ever
are we ever gonna learn to fly
the devils they burn inside of us
are we ever gonna come back down - come around
I'm always gonna worry about the things that could break us
if I was to give in - give it up
- and then
take a breath - make it deep
cause it might be the last one you get
be the last one that could make us cold
you know that they could make us cold
I'm always gonna worry about the things that could make us cold

If you feel like you have too much money (and time) on hand... why not splurge it on an island to call it your own?
Society Island, French Polynesia, Oceania (SGD 7million)

(strengthen the angels in you, be aware of your demons, because there will always be things that will worry or break you. Let the warmth of your strength carry you on. :))

If you feel like you have too much money (and time) on hand... why not splurge it on an island to call it your own?
Society Island, French Polynesia, Oceania (SGD 7million)
too many coconut trees, must clear some space.
hooray for white sandy beaches and low waters!
my fave - eden beach, French Polynesia, Oceania (US 5.5million)
how can you resist this??
in case you are wondering, no, i'm not really gonna buy an island. xiaoqian planted the idea on me when we were quite stoned at work and it got us all excited. haha! it's just interesting to look at them and there are a ton of things to consider when you buy an island too. the environment, accessibility, plants and lifeforms in it, etc. :D so it's quite an art to find a good island, though I did have a vision of me decked out in an explorer's outfit, planting a wooden signboard (like those you see on tweetybird cartoons) that says "this is Jing's island!"some references...
