why i am irritated with singtel

Grrrr

am recently annoyed with Singtel's student plans (planning to re-contract) because:

(taken from singtel youth website's FAQs. heh i'm a savvy consumer k!)

Does FREE Unlimited SMS apply to all numbers?

The first 500 free SMS applies to any number. The second bundle of unlimited free SMS applies to SingTel numbers only (SingTel Fixed, SingTel Postpaid Mobile and SingTel Prepaid Mobile), excluding mobile numbers from other operators which have been transferred to SingTel Mobile. All SMS are applicable to local numbers only.

Scenario 1: Customer sends;First 500 SMS to StarHub/M1/SingTel numbersNext 1000 SMS to SingTel numbersCharges: $0

Scenario 2: Customer sends;First 500 SMS to SingTel numbersNext 500 SMS to StarHub/M1 numbersCharges: 500 SMS x $0.0535 = $26.75

what are the chances that ALL of my family and friends are Singtel users? ZERO

although spamming siew will become a free reality (let's try for 100 smses at one go) but no, it's still not tempting enough for me to take up the offer.

i've been waiting so long for them to start catching up with Starhub (free 2000 smses - no strings attached) and yes, i have always been a loyal customer of Singtel but they are disappointing me =(

and what's more:

(3) Free AutoRoam for 3 months for new lines only.
(4) Free Colour-Me-Tones for 1 month for new lines only.
(6) Free Caller-ID for 12 months for new lines only. (ARGH)
(7) Free VoiceMail for 12 months for new lines only.
(9) Free MP3 Music Pack for 3 months for new lines only.

so old customers are not valuable anymore huh?

well, i got a direct mailer from singtel two days ago wanting me to choose between $8 per month rebate or a $30 off nokia 3G handset, and truth to be told, i'm tempted by the former but not as tempted as FREE 2000 smses from starhuhb. sigh

and oh, from june 13, we (the consumers) can switch telcos without changing our numbers. how nice. hee hee hee.

to stay or not to stay?

that's the question i'll answer after my exams. ha!
