school just started and yes, i'm trying to tune my body to "full attention and stop daydreaming away halfway in class" mode. i can't believe i'm in year 2 semester 2. i can't believe i'm gonna wear the graduation hat soon. yikes! my uni life has been quite monotonous so far. =x let's hope interesting (positive ones) things will happen soon. ha!
oh, btw, i saw my virgin article appear on nanyang chron today! -grins- co-wrote it with grace, my trusty friend, but nevertheless my name is there!! woohoo! all my hard work finally paid off. =D i guess the excitement will die down fast after a few more articles (coming next issue and for the rest of the semester) but for now let me bask in my proud moment!
moving on to the photos! i predict there'll be 60+ photos to come, three major events to jolt down, so be prepared for a long read! =)
KL trip (26 - 29 Dec 2007)
it was an impromptu trip by the four of us, me, victoria (vick), junming (jm), and small david (sd). haha! i'm lazy so there's short forms for their names. lol! we booked the coach only two days before the trip and the hotel was confirmed one day before i think. =x scary eh. but it's so thrilling! hahaha okay perhaps we needed more time to research on the place etc cos by the second day we have nowhere to go already. =x but i'm moving ahead of myself. let us start from the beginning...

fivestars coach! which totally sucked on the trip back considering the amount we paid =( (more of it later) next time people, take arrow or grassland. lol. top left = jm, top right = sd
thank goodness my dad provided me a file of what-to-do and where-to-eat guide, if not we'll be really lost. haha! my wonderful travel-crazy daddy! i think i just need to rattle off a country's name and he'll give me a whole list of facts about it. O.o
upon reaching the hotel (hotel impiana), jm and i went to check in cos we cheated and four of us shared a 2-person room to cut costs (hey, it's a five star hotel =x). we got a very spacious room with a oriental feel (save for the lousy construction scenery but i forgave them), complete with a huge bed and the works you'll expect in a hotel.

there is jm at the far end of the corner reading this pillow brochure cos we get one extra pillow free i think and he's checking out the varieties of pillows -_-"'

Me and vick posing near the doorway!

jm's extremely tiny laptop shown here with a bottle of mineral water for you to gauge. the height of the screen is not even that of the bottle! gosh. it's also by some brand unheard of by me, but it works fine heh. i resisted the urge to check my results on the 28th though. haha!

here's the hotel! okay it doesn't look very flattering here but the lobby is really pretty and cosy! they even serve tea for you while you wait to check in haha

teevee

start of our "let's do star jumps" exercise. we look really embarrassing here! i think cos we ate too much secret recipe cakes. hahaha! speaking of which, we actually to this secret recipe shop for two days in a row! =x but i admit their cakes were really cheap heh.

act 2

act 3 and sd's not inside cos he's out photog. lol!

jing the fairy! be good or you'll be turned into a toad. =D
okay, the rest of the pictures are gonna be really jumbled up because we went to so many places that i can't even keep track of them haha!

the lengendary secret recipe cakes! our supper for the first night although we were really really full by then. oh we watched a harry potter movie in the hotel room! just nice it was shown on axn or sth i think.

dinner for the first night =) jalan alor (near lot 10, sungei wang...) they have this whole stretch of seafood eateries and every single one looked welcoming! in the end we just chose one and settled down for food!

vick and sd!

very delicious bak ku teh (their soup base is heavenly i tell you) and satays and bbq chicken wings!

humongous stingray, biggest i've ever seen so far.

yep we went to the infamous chinatown, which was a total letdown and we saw tons of fake beggars by syndicated groups and overwhelmed with goods that are obviously from one huge supplier cos every store sells the same thing. there to cheat tourists only? you bet. normal shopping malls in KL are thousands of times better seriously. i'll never step foot in there ever again.

another shopping mall - central market! this is slightly better with exotic stuff but at ridiculous prices (maybe cos they are handmade?) so we got bored of this place quite fast too. =x

however! we found a famous amos shop inside that sells famous amos ice cream! whoopieee! it costed only RM2.90 for a single huge scoop! great way to indulge =D their ice cream's not bad too

vick the random photographer haha

visited the twin towers the next morning! i realised there are more "kiasu" people in the world than us singaporeans! because the free tickets were supposed to be given out at 8.30am in the morning, we reached slightly before nine and were informed that all 1,300 tickets were given out already! horror of all horrors! there were SO many people in that area man. it's damn scary

settled for some donuts eventually at the nearby mall hee hee

the now-extinct a&w in singapore but still surviving well in KL! yesh, that is moi kissing the wall. don't ask.

yummy old-school float =)

there were so many taka-lookalike christmas trees in every mall we went! couldn't resist taking a picture heh

one of the highlights of the day - ferris wheel!

up, up and away!

it was very warm at that time so we tried our best not to get baked in the container

ahhh

we really had nth to do during the 20-minutes ride so we kept on taking pictures lol!

ditto =D

foursome!

this was taken on the last night =) outside some paragon-looking kind of mall

looks like marche's cows right? hahaha

dazzling twin towers (they are called the petronas towers i think) in the nightsky

very very lok kok coach on our way back. i can't believe they actually call it the executive coach! it's supposed to be the highest class among all their coaches =( my headphones did not work, their movies were so outdated and fuzzy, the driver maintained a hair-raising speed of 120km/h throughout the whole journey (vick and i almost cried in fear the coach will crash), and the driver even talked on the phone freely when driving! for goodness' sake, it's midnight and you are on a highway! he even sped past private cars and lorries! -_-"' it was the most unpleasant (AND terrifying) journey i've ever been on so far. i'll really think twice about sitting on fivestars tours coach next time. =x

on a brighter note, we all actually went to watch alvin and the chipmunks in KL! haha i think it's opened by GV and their seats were so posh! even better than singapore's lah! no wonder there were hordes of people around. we queued for at least half an hour for the tickets! lol. but movies there are cheap, i must say =D very good deal indeed. heh! oh, it's RM10 per person. =)
in short, we really got the hang of taking trains and cabs around KL and the technique of how-not-to-get-cheated. cab fares usually cost less than RM4 for short distances so don't get duped next time! also, don't give up if no one wants to take you cos you requested for maybe RM 5 or 10 whereas the drivers want RM20 at least. trust me, continue asking other cabs and you'll definitely get one that agrees to your request. =) we persevered! lol
David's 20th birthday dinner
david from my class i mean, not sd from band haha!

yanling and siew!

kelly, derrick and me! kel finally came for class gatherings after being MIA for sometime haha! but she went off after awhile =(

chitchats

deciding what to eat. oh we were at hog's breath by the way =)

my scrumptious cheeseburger meal =) love their curly fries!

group photo!! =D happy birthday david! the youngest one of us all! haha

just in case you can't read the words, it says "Men are like chocolates, wait too long and only the nutty ones are left."
THANK YOU derrick for the christmas prezzie hahaha! but i do agree with the quote! it's hilarious hahaa i think i laughed for a minute =P

ohoh i went with derrick to search for a present for david before meeting the rest and we found many secondhand shops in chinatown square! they really have countless of antique and long-lost stuff =D very very cool haha! i found this at a makeshift book shop at the basement and guess what? it's only a dollar! =D =D there's many innocent quotes when applied to real life, you really get quite alot of insights! haha
one example: Eeyore - "We can't all, and some of us don't. That's all there is to it." very true eh. this answers questions we always ask, like "why can't i achieve/get/be this or that?"
but it can be really silly at times, for instance, "when carrying a jar of honey to give to a friend for his birthday, don't stop and eat it along the way."
well, you get the gist haha. but it's really worth the one buck though =)
next up...
New Year countdown 07/08
I had the whole evening planned out for them which includes dinner at brewerkz, boat ride to timbre (abeit impromptu), surprise new yr presents from KL, two new year resolutions games (i asked them each to write 30 resolutions each teeheehee), a surprise gathering with vick, jm and sd, and also a matchmaking session!! wahahaha i'm so pleased with myself that night when my friends kept telling me i planned really well lol!! i can really consider being a party planner next time =D

wanwei and huiwen!

wanwei and me! lorraine's late. that silly lor bak was caught in a huge jam haha. we almost finished dinner when she came! =) but at least she made it in time for countdown! =D

lor bak and huiwen (or ni aka yam paste cos she loves it so much)

boat ride from clark quay to boat quay! and it's only 3 bucks! woohoo~ =D so long since i've sat in a boat! we were so excited and squealing throughout the whole trip like three-year-olds hahaha!

see the gleam in our eyes? =D

shot taken from the boat =)
we arrived JUST in time for timbre! luckily we got seats because it was fully booked when i wanted to book a few days prior to that. =x

and being early birds, we got party supplies for free!!! poppers, whistles, masks, the works!

getting very high hahaha!

we talked and laughed and talked and talked until we all lost our voices! seriously =x and we talked so loud (no thanks to the two huge chatterboxes lorraine and huiwen haha) that this guy from the other table came and asked us how old are we cos his girl partners thought we were 18! goshhh
gifts from KL! =) love them (the people not the tags haha) to pieces! we are really a unique bunch heh =D i'll miss all our endless chatterings about everything under the sun! and yes, in mega loud volumes too! lol!!!

jappie class partner! i miss jap lessons!!

KL kakis! haha it rhymes! they were brought here by yours truly as a surprise. for the matchmaking session hahahaa but i shall not elaborate lest one of them kills me. =x hey, i think i can open a matchmaking agency too.. hmm

huiwen's unglam shot! HAHA that's what she looks like when she laughs like crazy with lorraine LOL! something which she did a lot of times throughout that night hahaha she'll kill me if she knows i put this up on my blog but who cares? she doesn't read my blog anyway heh, cos she is techno-phobic lol. she's more like anime-and-manga-lover, just like siew. -_-"'

our new yr resolutions!! =D kudos to everyone cos everyone managed to cough up at least 30 resolutions! amazing!! hahaha there are many funny ones inside though hee hee, like wanwei's "go on a food trying session ard singapore" and huiwen's "be more evil" lol! but one of the games i asked everyone to play is to help fulfill at least two resolutions on another person's resolutions list. =) i have this "go to underwater world" resolution that they are gonna help me fulfill soon! LOL

very expensive evian mineral water - $6.50 =x

the combined gang!

four of us again! we basically chatted our way from 8pm to 1am hahaha!

girls advertising for san pelligrino mineral water =x also $6.50 yikes!

first picture of 2008!!! hence the handsigns haha all hail the new year!

okay now we are advertising for the pizza hahaha! which really tasted great!

moving out of timbre and walking to clark quay!

astonishing number of people partying in clark quay. madness!
P/S: thank you KL peeps for the friendship organiser and forever friends pencil! =)

squeezing in jm's car, heading to town haha!

2am and huiwen is snoozing away in HK cafe =D

very weary after a looonnngggg night
