backlogged

I guess its good that I'm kept busy.

Still, occasional rests and time off to talk to people is vital to retain my sanity too.

Hang in there, everyone! It's still the start of everything and we have a long race to go! :) And half of the fun will be the journey itself, not the ending.

Standchart

Oh mannnnn

Standchart changed their co-sponsor from adidas to new balance! =( =( =(

And it means that the finisher tee will change too! Awww... I've been waiting for 2 years to get that tee, and now when I finally decided to join, they are gonna change it??

Let's hope the new one will be nice. I'll give it the benefit of the doubt. But honestly, I really really love the old tee and am already prepared to sweat it out for it.

Boo.

on a totally different note, check this vid out hahaha

succumbing to temptation

I'm such a sucker for cheap flights. =/

Just booked another trip to phuket next year for 55bucks, return tickets, inclusive of 10kg of carry-on luggage plus a shared 20kg luggage.

sigh. sigh. sigh.

Can't help but thinking I might have made the decision without thinking rationally. But what's done is done. I'll just sit back and worry when the time is near...

in life...

In life...

you don't get everything you want.

so you have to make certain decisions to give up certain things.

but before you make those decisions, you have to weigh the pros and cons, the consequences, what you get out of it, whether is it REALLY what you want or there are other factors pressurizing you etc

and ultimately, your decision will be based on your character, and what you think is right for you, or what you can live with. there's no right or wrong path, because its the path you chose for yourself.

oh i've considered opinions of others too, it's really important to get feedback too you know. :D

then in the end, once you made your choice, you shouldn't think of what you'll lose, but rather, what you can focus on now wholeheartedly.

I think i'm getting influenced by media law classes to be vague, just like singapore's laws hahahaha

but yeah, you get the gist.

so i do have a few decisions to make, and have (sort of) made them after considering really seriously with all the external/internal/environmental factors included.

let's hope i'm making right choices. :)

if not, then let's hope i can learn something from my wrong choices. hahahaha!

wish fulfilled

YES YES YES YES!!!!

The inaugural Singapore Kite Festival in August will include colourful exhibitions, hands-on workshops and culminate in a mass kite flying extravaganza at West Coast Park featuring kite stunts, arts performances and activities.

Kite flying was once a popular sport amongst Malay, Chinese and Indian communities in the fifties. The Singapore Kite Festival is all about reviving this tradition and establishing a fantastic multi-cultural community event.

Kite Flying Exhibitions

To get the festival off to a flying start, 700 primary and secondary school students can participate in workshops to paint magnificent colourful kites and learn how to build their own. These kites will be displayed to the public at Raffles City (August 7-10), Vivocity (August 14 -16) and Northpoint (August 21 - 23).

Visitors also have to opportunity to make their own at the Kite Making workshops, which will allow them to fly their own with the 700 others at Kite Flying Day. If you have kids, watch out for performances of The Little Kite, a play about a little princess who loves kites.

Kite Flying Days

Bring along a picnic, friends and family to enjoy this huge outdoor event. With a vast open area for kites to fly high, kite-making workshops and Kite Masters on hand to teach you dazzling tricks, kids will have plenty to keep them happy. A lively stage will host song and dance performances from local artists and the awards for the Most Innovative and Inspiring and Most Humorous Kite awards.

Kite Flying Days will be held at the Grand Lawn, West Coast Park from 4-7pm on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 August.

Lala!! Let's go get our kites soon!

kitey kite

Credits to: sandiegothetas.com
Have you flown a kite before?
I have, long time ago in Marina Bay, when it's still a huge open field. My dad used to love to bring me to parks and stuff, so I had the opportunity to fly my huge kite when I was young.
And it looked a bit like the kite in the picture above. colourful and mega huge =D
I still remember the wooden handle with thick strings which was quite heavy at that time.
Suddenly, I have the urge to fly a kite again. :)

Evening of reliving childhood memories

Morning - watched my friend's live band performance with Vick :) I could feel the smiles on everyone's faces. :)

Afternoon - tuition. math is like drug that makes me wanna sleep. not that i hate math, i love it in fact, but i just can't seem to stay awake while doing math problems.

4pm - set off for east coast with bestie

4.30pm - took 196 bus from clementi. talked lots on board and we felt like little kids going on an excursion hee hee! note to self in the future: please take the bus from commonwealth or outram instead. it's much faster.

6.40pm - started cycling. rental of bikes is 6 bucks for two hours per person, plus two free bottles of water! not bad...

6.40pm - 8.20pm - sang random songs while cycling and enjoying the breeze, watched people fish for fish at the jetty, sniffed at dozens of BBQs that were going on, wow-ed at the new safra resorts. :)

8.30pm - was forced to sit in a kiddy ferris wheel by bestie and we had to sit in different booths because we are too heavy as compared to the kiddos. and i bumped my head on the roof of the cabin. -.-"' after that i got my share of fun while we sat on the pirate ship ride. i looovveee the G force sensation wahahaha. bestie was so scared that she clinged on to my arm and screamed her head off. =P

9pm - dinner at C nai hong kong cafe. they had a live band that night and we heard plenty of great c-pop songs! XD that really made my day while we sat there and sang along while nursing a cup of milk tea. =) oh, and their sour&spicy soup is good too!

10.30pm - left the cafe reluctantly as we were afraid we couldn't catch the last train.

10.45pm - bestie spotted 8 to 10 stray cats while we walked past the HDB flats to the bus stop. Of course we de-toured a bit to let her chat with her fave animal. Her radar for cats is scary, she can spot a cat 300metres away. haha!

12.30am - home sweet home, with sweet memories of an evening well-spent by the beach. :) thanks for letting me free my thoughts for a few hours while I enjoy the simple pleasures of life. we don't see each other often, but you always brighten up my days when we meet. :)

to share

Some great videos to share! I love it when my lecturers play videos. heh! First one is a Burger King Whopper Freakout that I find very clever. =) Second is a whacky song that just makes you laugh haha!

Enjoy!

Living good

"Energy comes from feeling good, not from eating well or sleeping a lot." - Dr Shigeaki Hinohara, 97 years old, one of the world's longest-serving physicians and educators.

Spotted that phrase in a magazine when I went over to my cousin's house for mahjong last week. :)

Are you feeling good yet?

P.S: notice that I don't have photos recently, because my camera KO-ed on me during my phuket trip =/ Have yet to get a replacement, I shall see how long I can survive without one haha!

era of lectures and tutorials again

yep! it's the time of the year again - school reopening!

I'm cherishing it because this is the second last time I can ever experience school reopening, and surprisingly, I find myself still adapting to having to study my readings etc. Work just seems so different.

And I haven't wrote so much for such a long time too. haha!

Still feeling slightly lost with the sudden changes and how I need to really organise my time. I need motivation to settle down with my books again!

piled

hello singapore! and happy birthday to you :)

i'm finally home for good after travelling around to nearby countries and as much as i love exploring new places overseas, home is still a haven.

but somehow travelling lets me put away stuff that i have to do back here in singapore. (like blogging about every single one of my trips haha!) and i like the unpredictable kind of life overseas. =P

nonetheless, glad to be back at home! have to sort out plenty of stuff and i'm getting out my dusty (but trusty) organiser to help me again.

i'll be posting my travel experiences in a separate blog (in view of future trips to come) with as much details as i can recall. =)

two days till sch starts!!!

i need to stop dreaming about the same thing over and over again

hosts for the day

Vick, jm and I are bringing vick's HK friends around Singapore today!

It's so fun playing hosts. :D

And the old school toy museum that i've been itching to go to will be on the to-do list! Plus not forgetting the delicious singaporean dishes like bak kut teh and sting ray and laksa.... *slurps*

jing sings again

Just came back from a 6-hour karaoke session with bestie. :)

now i have tons of 10bucks nett coupons to be used in kbox clementi! hahaha they really have a way to make people come back.

singing is always fun, but today seemed more enjoyable somehow. perhaps because i was quite focused on getting my lyrics and pitch right. and trying to hit all the high notes accurately. to do these kind of stuff you have to really be in the mood to do so. haha!

and i satisfied my singing cravings that came to me when i was in phuket. lol! well almost. :D
