Happy Moo Year!

The 3-pineapple-tarts-a-day season is back again!

This year is slightly different from the rest as my granny passed away last year, so there goes my yearly routine of heading to 'si ma lu' street every lunar new year's eve and squeezing with people in the temples. kinda miss that actually. and the staying up is fun too. hahaha! so this year is slightly quieter, caught the jack neo movie "love matters" with daddy on the first day of new year! =D well, it's not exactly catered to my age group, so I would advise everyone to watch "the wedding game" instead! haha

I feel weird blogging from office actually. Technically I can do it cos I have nothing to do now, but I'm feeling guilty about coming late to office today, and delivering my boss's coffee late for her meeting. ops! didn't expect that she would need coffee suddenly =/

and the reason i'm late today is because I was out till very late last night heh! was out shopping with siew for a 'sea-coloured' dress for joyce's party today and met jm for dinner-cum-supper at the coffee club after that. subsequently we just talked and talked and talked till 1am. (digression: sheperd's pie at the coffee club is delicious!) that was the case on day 2 of new year too! we sat in siew's living room (without aircon and siew didn't melt - surprise surprise) and chatted till 2 or 3am. gosh. how talkative we are. hahaha! i don't understand why do we have so much to talk also. it's just fun to talk. and argue about general stuff. and yeah, i was trying to probe something out of them la. =P

yeah. back to being late today. i don't know whether i can stay up late today for joyce's party without falling asleep. and there's a looonngg day ahead for me tomorrow too!

had a business lunch cum awards ceremony last friday at this quaint and posh indian restaurant nested along scotts road named song of india. =) Felt quite uneasy at first, after setting up stuff and then when the guests came, I didn't know whether to show face or to hide away. in the end i chose the latter as I wouldn't know anything about the guests anyway. actually i do know something after some last-min research before I left for the restaurant, but i still chose the safe way. haha! ended up chatting happily away with the restaurant's manager (mario) and he gave me a cosmopolitan for free! =D we talked about aspirations and he said that if he could really open his own restaurant one day, he'll be over the moon. i think he has the skills and acumen to succeed though. =)

being a high-end restaurant, the service is naturally in tip-top condition, with a hint of friendliness - i like! =D it's not those aloof and blunt restaurants, but very warm and inviting.

huge love letters? haha it's salty though. there's dips to dip it with



very thick strawberry lassi - something like a smoothie. slurps!



complimentary. love the crispy exterior and minty contents



appetizers - tiger prawn, fish, chicken and lamb.



mains - chicken masala (or something along those lines. haha!) the breads are the bomb man. thick yet crunchy pieces of roti-prata-lookalike breads baked in a clay oven. 5 stars!

oh, and their vanilla ice cream is absolutely heaven sent. it's rich, creamy, has a sweet aroma and basically flew me over the moon. =D =D



this is not in song of india anymore. but rather in liang court where david and i had lunch last sat while on our visit-jm's-shop trip. it's some japanese and italian fusion restaurant. food is reasonable, ought to try their steak though. those are really cheap. heh.



no complaints about their pizzas too. =)

I officially lack sleep. Have been meeting various friends/cuzzie over the past week's evenings but it was great talking to every single one of them. But I think I'm losing energy and focus so I better replenish them by sleeping more before I doze off when someone's talking. =/

I miss waking up at 11am in the morning!!

I didn't delete any premiums files or WIP files. Heck, I've never been into the premiums folder -.-"'

I'm really sorry about the corrupted files, I didn't wish for it to happen. I spent so much time over the weekend to perfect the images not wanting it to go to waste but it still did.

I rest my case.

On a lighter note, i met up with reina for lunch today! :) had to cab back from suntec cos i was running late, but its worth it. thanks for the wonderful lunchtime chat about friendship and everything else! so far i had met waisan and the alchemy gang since internship started. shall chalk up more meetups soon :)

I can't wait to go back to office and pack the inventory room. I'm serious. I think I have this neatness streak in me to clean up places (like siew's room) and feel immersely gratified after a huge clean-up. :D little pleasures of work. Let me list more pleasurable things at work:

- i finally got my toilet key!! though its shared, but better than nothing!
- yummy biscuits and cookies baked by random colleagues in the pantry
- patience of my supervisors and a forgiving heart :) you don't know how much those words mean to me.
- xiao qian sitting beside me so that we can entertain each other when we are bored or feel like sleeping. it's much better facing a new environment with someone familiar.
- flexible lunch hours, some degree of freedom (very much treasured and not exploited)
- varying tasks ranging from franking mail (there's always so much to learn from receptionists) to brainstorming
- never a dull moment. (problem solving skills learnt, sometimes abeit the hard way)
- help gotten from people all around and people who taught me many things patiently :)


My quite-impulsive purchase of a white heels today is unexpected, but well thought. heh. an investment for the future workdays yet to come! glad that i caught up with a friend who's flying off to china soon. (i must meet reg before she flies off too!) hope your accomodation prob will be solved soon, and i trust that you are a resourceful person! haha

and oh, congrats to mr obama on his successful presidency. :) he is one brave man.

The following conversation took place at 2.40pm Singapore time, at CNBC office on a breezy wednesday afternoon.

Us (jia chien and I): (staring at mr smiley, the magic know-it-all ball which can tell you answers to your questions)

Me: eh. i think i've never asked mr smiley whether he's male or female you know. i just sort of set it for him/her. let's check with him/her then.

Us: (taking mr/ms smiley and asked a question) are you male?

Mr smiley (after being shook and flipped over to check answers): Yes!

Us: ohhh!! so he's a guy!

Us: Hmm.. what if he's bluffing us?

Us: (shaking mr/ms smiley again) are you a female?

Mr smiley: Maybe!

Us: (buffled looks) WHAT?! so is it a he or she?? (Jia chien: maybe he's a bi)

Us: (shaking the ball again) So are you male or female?

Mr smiley: Can't say!

so we kinda concluded that mr smiley is a male on the surface, but maybe he has some issues deep down inside. hmmmm

watched ponyo the movie yesterday night with siew!! =D yay i satisfied my cravings heh. it was a great movie with tons of superb hand-drawn visuals (man, i wish i could colour a house like that) and very wacky characters. :D

back to work now!

afterthoughts

after a work-in-progress meeting today, i think what my dept needs most is an additional marketing manager. =/ my colleagues are so totally buried in that pile of mountain of work. gosh.

including me of course. i need 48 hours a day. it irritates me to see things undone, especially by myself, but i can't seem to finish it all!!! O.o time oh time, where are you?

Been sick this whole weekend, cancelled quite a number of stuff =/ at first i wasn't very used to resting at home as it seems like i still have million of things to complete, being the silly worrywart as always. but when i finally relaxed with a book in hand (chasing harry winston by lauren weisberger) i rekindled with my love for reading and happily spent the night indulging in lives of three best friends and their adventures! heh

my healing materials. haha! there's aloe vera honey, smoked plum drink which tastes really smoky (but proclaimed by the herbal shop owner to be super effective against sore throat so i snapped up a bottle immediately! haha. it kinda work though, my sore throat is cured in a day. =)) and tons of vitamin Cs! oh there's that guilty-looking candy in the middle but that's for a treat every now and then heh.



giant LCD screen above me. i've been subconsciously feeding financial terms and info to my brain this past week and i did manage to recall some stuff actually. not bad at all. and i saw the exclusive interview with obama on thursday! =D he's charming but no comments abt his plans yet because i don't have sufficient understanding haha

so that's roughly the area i work in. of course, there's production studios downstairs but i'm not entirely sure i'm allowed to take pictures in it. =) someday, perhaps!

a new week is starting again!

after little persuasion (too cute to resist and there's constant pleading from her sister), I agreed to teach my little tutee, huiyun, again. primary three this year and though i really really really really dread the travelling and the area at night, i guess i could give it a shot.
