on one fine day...
while grace and i were doing some filming, we had a few hours to spare as we need to wait till nightfall. so... we went shopping!! =D actually we spent 3 hours in kinokuniya reading grammar books, travel guides and scouting for schedule books. heh. and well, another 3 hours in mango, zara etc lol the number of shoppers around are downright scary =x
got my fave ice cream of all time - hokkaido ice cream! too bad i can't get it free this time. heh
grace loves to lick her ice cream while i use the spoon. the end result? she ate faster than me! haha!

we went to do interviews for an article for nanyang chron with nuria, our photographer! =) visited two minimarts - a korean and a german mart.
first stop! Sol mart in square 2, novena
digress - i saw guang liang promoting his new album there! haha

quite a huge crowd too and it's situated nicely beside the escalator
would you dare to try this? silkworm pupua hahaha! koreans eat this with beer or alcohol. yes, straight out of the can. the lady who introduced us to this said its "crunchy like biting into a cockroach." go figure. it's cheap by the way, $2.50 per can =D

we found lots of recipes to make korean food pasted on the walls of the mart! =D how cool right? haha i shall be nice and share it all with you all =)

we stayed there for nearly 5 hours, lingering around, taking notes and interviewing people. haha. the employees there are all very warm and friendly! =) very hospitable too, i must say. i think we bothered them quite a bit asking them to interpret a lot of items to us because it is all written in korean language. =) i realised that koreans are a healthy lot, quite similar to the japanese as they eat non-MSG laden food, and their diet consists of rice water (they don't really drink plain water), kimchi, bean paste etc. and most of their food are made from sweet potatoes, beans and such.
do visit it if you are around the area! you'll find yourself being transported to korea suddenly hee hee. i bought so much so that i felt like i'm shopping in korea and i'm bringing food back to my friends and family in singapore. =x
on the other end of the spectrum, there's the german marketplace situated near coronation plaza! =)
didn't take much photos of it because the people inside are not very friendly =x they seem to doubt that we are writers writing for the chron. and well, one of them wanted to shoo us out after awhile. thank goodness another lady was nicer and she explained some stuff to us. =)
rows of knorr food! you can find so many varieties of the brand there! it's like a specialty shop. haha! try their cups of instant snacks, they seem really delicious! of course, it is not very healthy hee hee
more sinful stuff - chocolates! more specifically, kinder chocs! woot! my eyes glimmered when i spotted them =D

alcohol-free beer! can you believe it? it's so fun if u buy tons of it and never get drunk. tastes like the same thing though, slightly less strong. we got a kick out of drinking it and posing as if we were drunk. hahahaha!

we ate at secret recipe =) oogled at the cakes but didn't order them in the end haha. we ate their mains instead!

wanwei's pan grilled catch of the day with lobster sauce - dory fish! i would totally recommend hers, it's really delicious and tastes well with the sauce! =D
wanted to use my ben&jerry's voucher but when we wanted to pay, the person told us that outlet doesn't accept it -_- paid in full in the end. grrr!
