short term memory

have you ever met someone whom you know you know (you know what i mean? haha) but yet you can't pinpoint where or when you met that person before. =x or how you know the person for that matter.

well, i met a few people like them over the past few days. =/

is it just my short term memory acting up or am i extraordinary blur these days? hmm... but i do have this tendency of not remembering who the person is. like, i know he/she is someone i've met once or twice before, perhaps even chatted for awhile, but i just can't seem to remember any names or faces etc. arghhh!

scenario 1

i was with wanwei walking out of jurong point and this girl waved to me and said hi while we brushed past her. she's actually wanwei's friend (or so i remembered after much probing by her) but wanwei didn't spot her cos she's too busy looking at her bank book. anyway, i was on auto mode and immediately could recognize her and waved back happily. then wanwei asked me who was i waving to, i said "er... someone i know i know, but i don't know who she is at this moment." =D

after thinking for a very long time and answering many of wanwei's questions ("long hair short hair?" "you sure she's my friend?") i finally remembered she's someone i met during an event for my school and she is indeed wanwei's friend but i forgot her name! i even remembered taking a few photos with her, talking quite alot with her at that time too. =x

scenario 2

i got this sms by one of my fellow ac band mate asking whether i wanna join the alumni band for a concert and she stated her name as angie. i really tried my best to remember who she is but seriously i don't have a clue! =( then i gave up and asked huiwen and she tried to describe the person but i still can't remember who she is. oh noooo

scenario 3

today i was in sch library studying and i think my friend's friend saw me. well, its quite a long story but i helped him take some photos of his group during orientation camp some time ago and frankly, i forgot who is the person already =x then he was telling me on msn he saw me today but he don't think i spotted him. whoops. so embarrassing =x i admitted i forgot how he looked like and apologized lol.

scenario 4

i was going to toilet in the library today and i saw a familiar guy standing near the steps. he said hi to me and asked where am i going and all the while i was thinking that i remembered i know him from somewhere and we chatted before but i really really really can't remember again! =/ i just replied and we chatted for a few minutes more but even till i said goodbye to him, i was still racking my brains lol! it took me like three more hours of recalling and wanwei's help in asking a few crucial questions ("is he my friend?" "no") before realizing that i knew him through that same school event i knew wanwei's friend in scenario 1. hahaha!

then suddenly everything came back to me and i recalled that we even took a cab down to some wholesale warehouse together at that time to buy some supplies urgently. so that's where i chatted with him for a long time. ahhh enlightenment! lol

crap. if i were to be in media industry next time, i'll just die trying to remember who's who. =x

no, if you are thinking i'll forget who you are in ten years' time, then you better think again =D i don't forget friends whom i've been with for some time okay. hee hee. well, maybe when i'm 80 i might. =D
