"I am Singaporean" meme

Seems like almost everyone in the blogging world is doing the memes so i shall start one too! =)

before that, some interesting quotes from other memes:

Handsel (handsel.blogspot.com): "I take the mrt everywhere. now i can repeat the terrorist warning messages in English, Mandarin, Malay and even Tamil (at least the numbers 999)"

Mr Marcus Lim (iamsingaporean.blogspot.com): "We are ranked 2nd in economic freedom and 140th in press freedom. We are a contradiction." (rather meaningful considering i realised that in school we are allowed to explore almost every areas except the political one. tsk tsk. what a forbidden fruit. yum~)

all courtesy of Digital Life newspaper and hey! i applied what i have learnt the past few days about plagiarism in lectures. wahahaha

hmm... let me start then.

I Am Singaporean because...

I go for worker's party rally and kay-poh but ultimately the vote goes to PAP (by my family)

I know when there is any event that will attract tons of people one must follow the golden rule: thou shall stand in queue at least four hours beforehand.

I have been through streaming, PSLE, idpw and CIP.

I have learnt that the ez-link card must be tapped at the beginning of the bus journey and after it too, if not the machine will deduct more money than usual.

I know what Yu Sheng is and it is supposed to be eaten during Chinese New Year

I also know all the famous foodstalls in singapore that sells yummy food because the common singaporean hobby is to find delicious food all over our tiny little island and eat till we all get fat =x

We complain a lot but when there is a dialogue session no one turns up

I'm capable of switching between english, singlish and mandarin at least three times in a sentence. if i want to. heh

The auntie selling porridge at the hawker centre near my house will always say, "ah girl, today don't have school ah? wa! so fast in university already. must study hard okay?"

almost every place is air-conditioned because of our weather

I know that the merlion is somewhere in sentosa but we don't know what it signifies

I love to sit at the head or tail of the LRT and am fascinated by the frosty windows

We always call esplanade the durian but we are proud of it

I'm the expert in all the lah, lor, eh, wah lao, leh, kao, sian, wor, le

And lastly,

Just like everyone else, I complain and gossip and whine all the time about Singapore but deep in my heart I love our tiny yet strong homeland and all the little things that comes with it, be it good or bad. =)

Happy 41th Birthday Singapore!
