say 'yay'! YAY.
Had a fulfilling band dinner at goodwood park hotel's thai village restaurant yesterday night. =D came to school in the morning for practice and got changed after it and off we go to makan! Oooo... and dr lee (aka band conductor) is treating! we have like, a hundred people, including some acs(i) band boys.
P.S: our conductor is rich. ^^
He treats us very well though... The best conductor i've ever had. ask ye xiang why he chose to stay in ac band. haha. Realised i've been writing about food in the past few entries. this is gonna be another one. whoops.
Anyway, don't read on if you are starving yada yada yada
here's the menu!!!
*Shark fin's soup with bits of crabmeat (real) and big mushrooms.
(the shark's fins <--- notice the 's' are gigantic!!!!! had a nice time devouring them, but kinda nagged by the fact that fishermen just cut off the shark's fin and let them to die in the ocean. Ouch. imagine being eaten away slowly by other fishes.)
*scallop with asparagus
(the asparagus is nice for once but the scallops taste like fishballs. oh well.)
*Steamed crab with 'tang hoon'
(tang hoon is the transparent brown kind of mee which is really bouncy and taste absolutely yummy with the wasabi chilli they provide. Ate alot of crabs. i'll walking parallel. hahahaa. =P)
*Fried pieces of fish
(with tomato sauce i think. very crunchy and the meat is so white! ^^ i'm a happy girl. huiwen choked on her fishbone though. ew. somehow it went down after some time but the people at our table got quite a scare.)
*abalone (aka mushroom)
(guess what????!!!!!!!!
I got cheated.
EVERYONE thought its abalone, cos 1) its cooked with those abalone veges that are sooooo delicious 2)the fish sauce looks so much like the abalone sauce! 3) the pieces of mushrooms are light brown in colour and looks EXACTLY like abalone!
it was until someone went to peek at the menu and informed us its mushroom.
AND the worst thing????
i HATE mushrooms. except for western button ones and those long white ones with a cap on top. that's all.
AND before we all knew we are been cheated, we couldn't finish them and decided to play number game with the last two pieces of 'abalone'. silly eh? -_-"' abalone and no one can finish them.
AND the worst worst thing is???
I got the number. AND the mushroom aka abalone. which i sort of ate with disgust cos it doesn't taste nice (i thought abalone is chewy but that is quite easy to chew so yah.)
duh.)
*Ma Po tofu
(delectable pieces of tofu with slight taste of chilli and rather crunchy on the outside. ahhh... heaven.)
*BBQ chicken in claypot
(we thought its deer meat or dog meat or snake meat or monkey meat or human meat (the last one is wayyy off but that got us talking about bloody murders which you would not want to know.) anyway, because the meat is very tender so we started guessing what it is. well, its chicken in the end. the waitress confirmed it. hohoho)
*Fried rice in crabmeat (i find their crabs have a very distinctive 'crabby' taste and i like! =D)
(didn't eat much of this as i'm quite bloated by then. too much sprite and chinese tea. but its well, much better than many fried rice i've eaten. i think they put some yam in it. i like the starchy feeling.)
*dessert!!!!!!!!
its fruits actually but their mango is super duper heavenly!!!!
(our table did a 'yam seng' though.
with fruits.
hahahaha!
interesting eh? but its quite embarrassing though, with people laughing like crazy.)
all in all, its a nice gathering with great food. =) though i saw something which made me rather pissed off, but oh well. shall not dwell on it.
ah, i forgot to mention that mrs kelvyna (spelling correct?) chan is there, along with vp and the music teachers. Got a shock when i entered the place but the principal's warm smile is comforting. =D
**sorry no pictures coz i didn't bring my camera. sad.
Today:
Last band practice of my life!!!!!!!!!
Technically not, because we have a national day thing. but that's only one practice before the day.
so....
Last band prac!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*sniff*
You know, after JC life, you go into uni being adults and you'll start to miss your youth days. all the innocence, fun, laughter... and these kind of bonding you have with everyone. it may not be lost, but once people go separate ways, we tend to forget the times which we loved so much.
Quite depressing actually. was feeling nostalgia the whole time. huiwen wasn't there because she had a terrible stomach ache and went home. so i went to band myself. didn't realise its the last prac because i thought we have a presentation for a wasbe conference. but its cancelled.
boo.
I remember the first time i came into the band, out of sorts totally as i don't know many people and i don't know what instrument to choose. somehow i found my way to learning the string bass and started having lessons etc... getting scolded by ms leong all the time... the one who scolded tzuqun in the lift... haha, actually she's nice, just that you have to catch her in a good mood.
then came all the concerts, performances, and the switz trip!!!!!!!!!!!
was looking through all the pics i have and i realised i had a really really really wonderful time in switz. =) thanks to all the people who accompanied me and having fun with me! My first time playing with snow and sliding down the snow hill too! ^^ wearing another person's jacket the whole time... so bad of me... =<>
then there's esplanade concert... =)
sigh.
i wanna go switz again. i don't mind the bus rides. heck, i don't even mind playing "how many times the buddha jumped over the wall" game over and over again.
i love everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this is getting rather long.
thou shall not digress.
well, as it is the last time we J2s will be practicing, we replayed many of the songs we performed and this time with much much more feelings and emotions in it. I knew, because i'm smiling the whole time. =) music is nice, especially there's memories to go along with. i'll miss symphonic overture and pirates!!! ohhh phantom of the opera tooooooo. *sob*
anyway went to swensens after band prac with su yi and some other peeps cos us girls have the craving for ice cream. haha. we shared a frosted choc malt and it's paradise~ extremely sinful. yum!
people going for band concert, thanxs for supporting!!!! *muacks
forget me not...
